a place to belong

Thanks for visiting First Ozark United Methodist Church! Our mission is to be an obedient community of faith--believing, praising, and loving God as revealed in Jesus Christ--as we respect, encourage, and serve our neighbors.

Founded in 1852, First Ozark continues to work toward celebrating all people in our society and committing ourselves to the rights of men, women, children, the elderly, and people with disabilities. We invite you to explore what we have to offer, and we hope you visit us soon!

First Ozark Reopening Plan Guides

Our church has always been an open, loving, welcoming, spiritual, Christian church, solidly founded on Wesleyan theology. The COVID-19 pandemic will not detract us from being that kind of church now, nor in the coming days. Our mission has not changed. We are the church of "YES WE CAN!" We will have to do some things differently but we can and will overcome these challenges and return to being the open, loving, welcoming, spiritual, Christian church we have always been. We will continue to find new ways to reach new people in new places while nurturing our members. Your patience and support will be fundamental to the manner in which we recover under Ozark, Alabama, and Alabama-West Florida Conference guidelines.

Update on Services, Events, Office Hours, and More

Regular office hours of operation have resumed. We will return to in-person worship on JUNE 7. Sunday School will not resume until JUNE 21. Pertinent information can be found by clicking on the red text regarding the twenty-one guidelines. This information will also be included in the next issue of our newsletter. We are looking forward to returning and being together once again. We will update you regarding any changes as they occur. Be sure to tune in to Facebook Live at 11:00 a.m. on Friday afternoons for our "Fridays at 11" where we hear from the pastors as they give us updates and information. We will have two more "Fridays at 11," May 29 and June 5, which will feature important information you will not want to miss!

TOP FLOOR YOUTH Flag Fundraiser

Top Floor Youth greatly appreciates all who purchased memorial and honorary flags. Your generosity is very kind and does not go unnoticed. We hope you have had a chance to see the flags lining the wall of the Meditation Garden on the Broad Street side of the church. An insert of those memorialized and honored, and by whom, is posted below.

WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP THOSE WHO ARE KEEPING US SAFE DURING THIS TIME?

If you are interested in making masks for healthcare workers and patients and have the ability to sew, you can follow the video tutorial or PDFs linked below and bring them by the church drop box (located outside of the office) and they will be distributed appropriately.

Gifts, Offering, and Tithing Options

Steps to take for turning in tithes and offering during office closure:

1) It can be mailed to the church.

167 E Broad Street

Ozark, AL 36360

2) It can be dropped in one of the collection plate locations before or after service once we return to in-person worship.

3) You can give online through the Alabama-West Florida Conference (AWFC) here. One hundred percent of your tithes and offerings will come back to our church. Carefully fill out the necessary and required information such as church name, pastor name, district, etc. in order for the conference to send the funds back to the correct, respective church.
